Yes, that could be what caused it.
I'm still not sure why it happened only when the motor was rotating in one specific direction though. And why it went away after I added the delays?

I think it's because the pin is only floating in one position (high or low, I'm lost!).
As for the delays, I don't really know, but I suggest you remove them now.
We could perhaps make bridges that allow us to route VCC or gnd as desired.

Don't forget to inform us and send pictures of your realizations with your cards, you can post on the dedicated forum. We always like to know what users do with our cards.
